From local to global, our mission is to assist individuals currently improving the well being of people that suffer from economic, political and/or environmental strife, yet are struggling to keep up with demand, finances or the changing needs of those they serve. We aim to provide education, financial supports, supplies, or personnel according to the needs identified by the people most affected. By forming relationships and collaborating with individuals that live and work in these areas, we can address the unique needs of people directly from those who are aware of the circumstances of suffering. 

HISTORY

Once there was a crazy nursing student who decided to volunteer in Madagascar with the fantastic organization Edge of Africa. Not only did she fall in love with the people and culture, she also decided that she wanted to support local people who were doing everything they could with limited resources. These are strong and caring individuals that would give everything they have to help someone less fortunate. Through many connections and friendships, she vowed that she, also, would support these dedicated persons in every way she could, through their guidance and expertise. Thus, It Takes One Initiative was born! 

ACCOUNTABILITY

We take things very seriously when it comes to spending donations. We, like you, want every penny to go to those people who need it. Thus, all of our directors and staff work on a volunteer basis. Any travel fees that occur come out of our pockets, not yours, unless you specifically say so. 

The only fees we have are the basic ones that we must pay to have a working NGO. These include government registration and filing fees, banking fees and website fees. We have made choices to go though companies that keep these fees to a bare minimum and have learned a lot from "doing it ourselves!" 

If you have any questions and/or wish to see our accounting documents we will happily provide them. As we are a new company, these documents will eventually become open to public viewing and accessible through our website so that you will always know where your money goes! And of course, if you wish your dollars to go directly to a particular project, we will be sure to do so.
